Hi Chris,
I never met you, but I worked with your mom at Garden of the Gods every summer of undergrad, and she was always an inspiration to me. I often thought that if I could have hand picked a mom, it would have been someone like Barb. Anyway, I know that she has been gone for almost a year, and I thought that you might want to hear a little story. I ran the Chicago marathon in honor of her last Sunday. I had a bib on from the Livestrong Foundation that said I was running In honor of Barb, but all of the spectators (over a million come out to support the marathon!) thought that my name was Barb, so all along the race course people were shouting, "Go Barb!" It kept me going, and I think that she was laughing from heaven. She always liked to talk about cheering you on in triathlons, so I think that she enjoyed her chorus of Chicago supporters (; It may sound silly, but I thought that it might brighten your day. I got an email from someone at the garden; they said that your sister is expecting, so please tell her that I am thinking about them (I don't have her email). Take care of yourself.

On a bus to the Cape..
After an all night flight and a few hours on the floor at Logan Airport. Something about the trip stirred up greiving for my Mom. She's an angel that's for sure. I think she'd be ready to go fishing this afternoon. Reflecting on the blog makes so much sense to me now and looking back I'm so glad I did it. The thoughts and experieces extracted would have been buried so deep I don't know if I ever would have recovered. If you catch this turn off the computer and go give someone you love, or even someone you don't, a big hug.
